The Hydra Performing Arts Festival

Hydrama hosts the international theatre and dance companies who participate in Hydra's annual performance festival in the summer months. Proposals should be made six months in advance to: info@hydrama.gr. For performance guidelines and technical specs click here or request PDF.

                                SUMMER 2026

Thursday June 18th: “MEDEA” 

Presented by theatre students from Oakland University. Directed by Lynnae Lehfeldt

 

Thursday July 2nd:: "DIONYSIA"

A devised theatre performance with pantomime, music and acrobatics - presented by the multi-talented cast of Proboscis Theatre. Directed by Jeff Mills.

 

Thursday July 9th:  “HYDRA DANCE DAYS”

 An evening of dance - presented by professional companies from Sweden, France, USA  who will be joined by Lina Orologa and her dance group from Hydra. Artistic direction: Michaela Meschke

 

Thursday July 23rd: "SISYPHUS– Flesh and Earth”

After its premiere in Poland this physical theatre production comes to Hydra before touring festivals across Europe. Featuring Fanis Katehos and directed by Donald Kitt. English surtitles

 

Thursday July 30th:  “IMMORAL INJURY”

A work-in-progress presentation of Andrea Greening’s play about moral and ethical issues in contemporary military service which is based on Sophocles “Ajax” and features actors from Canada, Ireland, Greece and USA. Directed by Aaron Coates. 


Entrance to all the performances is free.

 

We do not accept reservations or issue tickets – so please arrive earlier than the boat if you want a good seat. The boat leaves Hydra town clock tower at 21.00 for Hydrama and performances start at 21.15 or as soon as the boat arrivals are seated.
